Spoon River Animal Clinic

Diagnostic Care

If you are concerned about a change in your pet's health or behavior, the best thing to do is schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. Although it may be tempting to search for a diagnosis on the Internet, in most cases only a veterinary clinic has the resources to correctly diagnose your pet. Spoon River Animal Clinic employs a broad range of advanced diagnostic tools to pinpoint medical issues with efficiency and confidence.

In-House Laboratory

Our in-house laboratory is capable of performing all kinds of basic laboratory procedures, including blood tests, fecal exams, and urinalysis, to help our medical team make an accurate assessment of your pet's health. The advantage of performing tests at the clinic, rather than shipping samples off to a regional laboratory for testing, is that it gives us direct and immediate access to your pet's results. In the case of serious illness, this allows us to come to a diagnosis quickly and get started on a treatment plan right away.

Digital X-Ray & Ultrasound

We also employ digital radiology (x-ray) and ultrasound to diagnose internal conditions. X-rays help veterinarians identify a wide variety of medical problems, including bone fractures and breaks, bladder stones, and some tumors, while ultrasound is useful in monitoring heart conditions and detecting cysts and tumors on any of the abdominal organs. We can also use ultrasound to track animal pregnancies.

We are proud to offer radiology and ultrasound services for small animal patients.
